Al right, forget the sil 3112 controller, is there anyone who installed Unix Solaris 10 on any sata chipset? If so how does the installation differ from one performed on an ata hdd, maybe it can help me
Or can anyone at least show me where too look?

Hi,
I have x86 machine with P4, 512 MB with 17" ViewSonic TFT screen. I installed Solaris 10 and i am geeting the error messages like "Notice: failed to initialize inband hot plug controllers." while booting. Later am getting the shrinked window in single line.

Server --Dell Poweredge 2550.
OS--Solaris 10
Network switch --cisco --port setting- 1000Mbps full duplex
The network LED goes off when the solaris console screen comes up but prior to that(while booting is in progess) it is green.

The 0x0001 flag forces the pciide driver to use DMA when there is no explicit DMA mode setting support for the controller but DMA is present.
If the BIOS didn't set up the controller properly, this can cause a machine hang.
The 0x0002 flag forces the pciide driver to disable DMA on chipsets for which DMA would normally be enabled. This can be used as a debugging
aid, or to work around problems where the IDE controller is wired up to the system incorrectly.
