I tried to put the history line number and the date into the file with one command, and failed. Can't figure out how to get the date variable substituted for the last space captured.
history | tail -1 | sed -e 's/.\{7\}/&/g' | head -1 | sed 's/ $/$date/'

DESCRIPTION
The procedure has to create a control structure for an encoder/decoder. The structure must be initialized with the contents of the the
option container. Return value is an opaque handle aof the control structure or NULL in case of failure. An error message should be left in
the result area of the specified interpreter then.
