Option to save data thats displayed?

I want to give the option to save all the data thats display by the commands to a log file. With a timestamp as the name of the file
This is where im stuck
echo "Would you like to save? (Y)es or (N)o
I believe you use a while loop?
If you have anymore ideas please let me know?
