In Solaris 8 there was no port forwarding software by default, in addition if you want to forward a port you will in many cases need root access, so you may be fighting a loosing battle here.

You could try port forwarding in ssh to see if you can achieve what you need.

hmm..it is a TCP port forwarding/redirection utility. Do you see the rinetd.conf in the /etc directory? Probably not..but if you can downlaod and install, which you would need the root also, take a look at this,

RINETD(8)

I used to run rinetd in my solaris 10 but not sure whether it runs in 8 or not.
