I have other files already in this format, so I want to keep the formats the same.
In addition, i don't want to risk opening it in excel and seeing the formats change.
i've added a second line that (is getting closer but certainly no cigar in sight!)
and a 3rd line will take that line and
but still struggling....
notably i want 20 decimal places (to take account of milliseconds)

since there is no hour/second, we can assume 12am every day

Is there any easy way to convert date time(stored in shell variable ) to epoch time in solaris box? As +%s is working on linux but not on solaris, also -d option is not working.

In a field, I should receive the date with time stamp in a particular field. But sometimes the vendor sends just the date or the timestamp or correctl the date×tamp. I have to figure out the the data is a date or time stamp or date×tamp.

bool xdiff_file_diff_binary (string $old_file, string $new_file, string $dest)
DESCRIPTION
Makes a binary diff of two files and stores the result in a patch file. This function works with both text and binary files. Resulting
patch file can be later applied using xdiff_file_bpatch(3).
Starting with version 1.5.0 this function is an alias of xdiff_file_bdiff(3).
PARAMETERS
o $old_file
- Path to the first file. This file acts as "old" file.
o $new_file
- Path to the second file. This file acts as "new" file.
o $dest
- Path of the resulting patch file. Resulting file contains differences between "old" and "new" files. It is in binary format and
is human-unreadable.
RETURN VALUES
Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.
