rename is neither a linux nor a ksh command/builtin. It's either an ftp command or a perl script. Compare the versions of either.

gvfs-rename source-URI new-name DESCRIPTION
gvfs-rename changes the name of a file or directory, using the virtual file system. OPERANDS
