And if I want to be able to input multiple filenames? This apparently doesn't work the way I expected:
./script.sh string filename*
I have 3 files with the name filename1, filename2 and filename3, but my script only returns the result from filename1, and does it three times. I'm lost...

Is there an easier way to do the following:
echo "|||||||" | sed 's/||/|0|/g; s/||/|0|/g'
which would give the following
|0|0|0|0|0|0|
If it is not run twice it will not pick up the second occurance of the || and leave it empty as in
echo "|||||||" | sed 's/||/|0|/g'
which would give... (3 Replies)

is it possible to cut this two semicolon separated sed commands
echo "string2 string3 string1" | sed s'/string1//g;s/string2//g'

I haven't done any scripting for quite a while and was trying to remember how to do a script with a for loop that uses another command for input straight from the terminal, IE:
for num in `cat somefile | awk <whatever>` do echo $num; echo blah; echo blahblah; done;
Hopefully something quick... (1 Reply)

I have a log output with a format similar to this:
a=1, b= 2
c=0, d= 45, e=100
... and so on.
I figure I can just use awk or something to pipe the file to sed, but I'm trying to replace all the values above with 0.
I've tried:
cat blah | sed 's/=\(.*\),/0/'but that didn't work. ... (6 Replies)

script-email - Amanda script to send email notifications
DESCRIPTION
script-email is an Amanda script implementing the Script API. It should not be run by users directly. It sends a notification email to the
addresses specified in the MAILTO property.
PROPERTIES
This section lists the properties that control script-email's functionality. See amanda-scripts(7) for information on the Script API,
script configuration.
MAILTO
List of email addresses that will receive an email on command execution. It is a multi-valued property:
property "MAILTO" "amanda@domain.com" "sysadmin@domain.com" "amandauser@domain.com"
EXAMPLE
In this example, script-email is scheduled to be run before the DLE, on the server. The unqualified email address amanda will be passed to
the email system unchanged. The script is then attached to a dumptype, which can then be specified for any DLEs which require
notification.
define script-tool pre-email {
comment "email me before this DLE is backed up"
plugin "script-email"
execute-on pre-dle-backup
execute-where server
property "mailto" "amanda"
}
define dumptype user-tar-email {
user-tar
script "pre-email"
}
