I have a Linux socket server program. I need to run the commands sent by the client and return the output to client. Is there a quicker way?
I tried with
ptr=popen(command, "r"); and then
fgets(buf, size,ptr);
write buf to socket
fgets hangs for me.

How can I grep exactly a string that has .,/ characters using grep?
Example: I want to grep ONLY string1 and not string1.more or string1.more.evenmore
#lsauth ALL|grep 'string1'

arp2ethers - convert arpwatch address database to ethers file format
SYNOPSIS
arp2ethers
DESCRIPTION
arp2ethers converts file arp.dat in the current directory into ethers(5) format on stdout. Usually arp.dat is an ethernet/ip database file
generated by arpwatch(8). The arpwatch daemon in Debian will create different arp.dat depending on its configuration. All of them will be
available at /var/lib/arpwatch/.
FILES
/var/lib/arpwatch - default directory for arp.dat
arp.dat - ethernet/ip address database
