Client web pages very slow to load. Squid issue?
Hi.
I have netBSD box acting as gateway, ftp, mail & web server, etc. It is now seven years old and has never missed a beat. The only problem is that the (Windows) boxes in my little network are now experiencing VERY slow web page loads.
The other problem is that in the years since a Unix guru friend set the system up for me he has become unavailable for help, and I've forgotten 99% of the Unix stuff I learned back then.
So, my question is whether Squid may be the issue here. Like, is it possible that it's cache has grown too large? Is there some maintenance that I should be doing? Any tips on determining whether it is even Squid that is the cause of the issue?
I know you'll probably need some precice version and config info - just say the word and I'll provide it the best I can.
Thanking you all in advance.

Hi,
my company is considering a new development of our web site, which used to run on Apachi over Solaris.
The company who is going to do this for us knows only about developing it in ASP.
I guess this means we'll have to have another ISS server on NT for these dynamic pages :(

On FC9 we are running squid-3.0.STABLE2-2.fc9.i386

NAME
bup-web - Start web server to browse bup repositiory
SYNOPSIS
bup web [[hostname]:port]
DESCRIPTION
bup web starts a web server that can browse bup repositories. The file hierarchy is the same as that shown by bup-fuse(1), bup-ls(1) and
bup-ftp(1).
hostname and port default to 127.0.0.1 and 8080, respectively, and hence bup web will only offer up the web server to locally running
clients. If you'd like to expose the web server to anyone on your network (dangerous!) you can omit the bind address to bind to all avail-
able interfaces: :8080.
