[ -d /some/directory ] || mkdir /some/directory
"-d" checks to see if a directory exists, the "||" means if the prior test fails do the next action, in this case, make the directory.

There are many servers and their directory structer should be exactly the same. To check the directory path for all servers, I wrote a script.

NAME
gvfs-mkdir - make a directory using the VFS system
SYNOPSIS
gvfs-mkdir URI
DESCRIPTION
gvfs-mkdir makes a directory specified by an URI using the VFS system.
OPERANDS
The following operands are supported:
URI Specifies the file location in standard URI format.
EXAMPLES
Example 1: Create a local directory
example% gvfs-mkdir file:///tmp/example
Example 2: Create a remote directory
example% gvfs-mkdir ftp://example.com/dir
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

EXIT STATUS
