I wander if there are some mistakes configuring the workstation.

I need to increase /var on a DG-UX R4.2 AViion Pentium Pro box - having never used DG-UX I'm unsure how to do this - can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, can I do it with the system up or do I have to take it to single user mode??

I am wondering if to increase the fs /var we really have to umount the fs so means stop the system ... just to do an extendlv ?

logdump(8) JFS utility - journal log dump logdump(8)NAME
logdump - dump a JFS formatted device's journal log
SYNOPSIS
logdump [ -a ] device
DESCRIPTION
logdump dumps the contents of the journal log from the specified JFS formatted device into output file ./jfslog.dmp.
device is the special file name corresponding to the actual device from which the journal log will be dumped (e.g. /dev/hdb1 ).
logdump must be run as root.
OPTIONS -a Dump the entire contents of the journal log instead of just the committed transactions since the last synch point.
EXAMPLE
Dump the entire JFS journal log from the 3rd partition of the 2nd hard disk into ./jfslog.dmp:
logdump -a /dev/hdb3
