Data Where should I start?

Hi people, Just wondering where I can get the latest version of a unix based program, and which is the best for a newbie? I know a little DOS, if that will help me. Also im using win 2000 pro, and I have partitioned my hardisk so that I can install unix on the other partition, is this possible?

install Unix or Linux

Yes, it is possible. You should buy a Linux distribution. I think Red Hat or SuSE can be installed easily. You can also download a Unix or Linux from the Internet, but sometimes it can be very difficult to install it, because you don't have any hardcopy of an installation handbook.
