gdm kdm and xdm

I am able to run gdm or xdm as root but when I run kdm I get the same effect as with init 5 runs it just sort of hangs and flickers. so it seems to be exclusive to kdm

Hello all, I have encountered a strange question. I installed a Ubuntu 8.10 in the VMware in the XP, and use putty to connect to ubuntu. Supported options: --version -h, --help command can be one of the following: truncate -c file, --config-file=file configuration file -r string, --realm=string realm Truncates the log. Sets the new logs version number for the to the last entry of the old log.
