When i am trying to login to my unix machine. It is directly loging me into root ( / ) directory, instead of my home directory. Why this is happening. And generally when this happens

I think may be while creating the user ID you have created the home directory root..go to /etc/passwd file and change the home directory.........

Hi Prafulla,
Thanks for responding. But, the user_id is created by our system administrator. I used to login in to my assigned home directory. But, all of sudden this problem occured and i am directly loging to root directory.

Alert your system administrator IMMEDIATELY!
If this was not done in error, your system
may have been compromised.

More than likely the path to your home directory is wrong in the /etc/passwd file or auto_home table (if automounting). I assume you do not have write permissions to / If so there is a big problem. Either way contact the responsible sysadmin.
