I'm hoping this is the right section.I am using a centos server. I was installing modules in perl when one got stuck in the installation and from there onwards I was having problems installing cpan modules using perl.
I figured I'll reinstal perl (I SHOULDNT HAVE). So I went ahead and uninstalled perl using a command on posted somewhere on these forums
I just replaced the 5.8.8 to the version of perl in the server by using perl -v. And boom, it uninstalled 900mb + of perl in a few minutes. Now, I installed perl using YUM. And it was only a 30mb installation or so. Now when I try to install programs using make file.pl, I keep getting errors.
I'm really worried, this server is really important and I feel I may have uninstalled the most important component of the server that the system files rely on.
Please guide me from here onwards on how to get it back together without crashing the server, as I'm scared it might crash anytime.
I did a little research and I read somewhere that when you remove perl the way I did, it removes all these programs along with it too. And I had a similar screen when I removed perl, so I think it did remove all these programs/files.
What should I do now?

Reason: Code tags
At worst, I expect you could use yum to install those packages again. It's a pretty robust tool and so long as the source is on the satellite server (if you have one) then it should all come back together.
First issue beside that is this.
How do you get the screensaver to stay on all the time please?
Maybe it's the monitor going to sleep.
Then the Matrixview says 'Not installed'.
Rest of Xscreensaver choices are there.
I did click around in properties of it. (2 Replies)
