Error starting Apache on Solaris 8

I am not by any means a UNIX guru if you can't already tell by the question I'm about to ask.
How do I launch Apache web server on my SOlaris 8 server without rebooting it?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

-Thanks

let me add...

I just want to know if there is some sort of command I could use to launch the http daemon...instead of having to reboot the server to get it started.Smilie

In linux to start the http demon you type:
httpd start
I'm assuming it would be the same on solaris? but I haven't run apache on Solaris yet.

There's probably a shell script in /etc/init.d called apache. Simply type:
/etc/init.d/apache start

this must solve your problem.

One add to complete the thing,

if there is no startup-skript in the /etc/init.d you can look into the
installation-bin-dir of apache ( e.g. /opt/apache/bin or /usr/local/apache/bin )
and there should be a "apachectl"-programm.

./apachectl start
./apachectl stop
./apachectl restart

check your apache install dir...eg /usr/local/apache

cd /usr/local/apache/bin

apachectl start

apachectl stop

starts and stops it...hope this answers it...
