Problem running a cron job

I have created a cron job for the vtiger workflow to execute the shell file named com_vtiger_workflow.sh to run the workflow.

I've created the following line in crotab -e :

Code:
00 13 * * * /var/www/html/prashant/cron/modules/com_vtiger_workflow/com_vtiger_tiger_workflow.sh | mail -s 'Check Workflow' abc@mail.com.my

It is supposed to fire a mail to me at the specified time, but it does not work.

The contents of the file are as follows :

Code:
export VTIGERCRM_ROOTDIR=`dirname "$0"`/../../..
export USE_PHP=php

cd $VTIGERCRM_ROOTDIR

$USE_PHP -f vtigercron.php service="com_vtiger_workflow"

Pls help me solve this problem.

depending on your env, shell, etc, commands in the crontab don't always work as written. sometimes they need quoting, or escaping of special chars.

I recommend putting the command you've added to crontab in a script instead, and call that script from crontab.

You are missing to specify absolute path for some commands in both cron job, and in shell script as like many cron users do.
