disabiling telnet and ftp from reversing DNS
Hello Everybody:
Im facing a weird problem over here. Eventhough my UNIX servers (sol9& tru64) are stand alone servers, and they dont see or use the DNS server, but recently after crash in our DNS and replacing it with new one and new IP, when I try to telnet or FTP some of these servers from different hosts, most of them is taking too much time (3-5 mnts) to connect, which is causing some application to declare session as timed out or failed.
when I added the hosts IPs to my local host file it worked out, since I cant add all my users to the local hosts, I heared if I disabled the reverse DNS option form telnet and FTP configuration it can work out also, my question is how I can disable this property or IF you have any other ideas in mind so I can overcome this Issue.

If you want to do this system wide you could delete your /etc/resolv.conf however this would also remove your ability to do forward lookups.
