Linux Problem with a lp from UNIX

Hi, how we are?

I have a problem, I have a PDF in unix and i call a Shellscript, it does :

Code:
lp -d queue archive.pdf

A simply print.

I have many printers, so in some printers the PDF is printing with a diferent margin left and right margins, it cuts the really print.

I try fix it, editing the PPD archive (printer driver, it contains diferent values, PageRegion, Imageable Area, HWMargins alocated in /etc/cups/ppd )

So, i changed this diferent values.

To add the ppd edited i do:

Code:
[/usr/sbin]

$ sudo ./lpadmin -p qlp30 -P /etc/cups/ppd/qlp30.ppd

And later , restart cups:

Code:
[/etc/init.d/]

$ sud ./cups restart

But, I print the PDF and it has a problem with margins. In fact, the print is equal (no changes).

I use cups 1.3.7

¿Have some ideas?
I don't have anymore...

Thanks Regards.

I suppose that there could be printer filters involved here or defaults on the physical printer. You don't give us much detail to go on.

You are using cups which means it's pretty unlikely to be AIX which I'm most familiar with. Can you give us some print queue definitions please and then any filters that are called when you print please. It could be a combination too. have a good look in the physical printer defaults/configuration too.

In AIX a printer will be defined in /etc/qconfig and there is a filter = in the stanza, so it's easy to see what's called.

Thanks Robin.

When you talk about filters it's refers PPD archive?
Where Can I obtain this information?

Well, to answer that, it would be useful to know your OS and version, e.g RHEL 6.1

Can you show us the content of /etc/cups/ppd/qlp30.ppd

From the RHEL manual page for lpadmin the -P option is to set up a "PostScript Printer Description" Hopefully this will help us a little.

Are all the print queues using the same PPD file? It's unlikely, so differences between them would be useful to see.

Thanks,
Robin
