Howdy! Using GNOME: gnome-terminal 2.18.2 here. QUESTION: How do I associate *txt files to a launcher object I created for Vim on my Desktop? Let's call it "MyVimLauncher". It starts Vim without any files loaded when I click on it. BUT, when I right-click "myfile.txt" to get the menu item "Open with other application", I can't find the object "MyVimLauncher", neither in list "Potential Applications", nor in list "All applications", so as to select it for opening "myfile.txt" and all *txt files. Tried draggin'n dropping the object into the lists, but the object does not get added to lists. Thanks in advance.

NAME

       gnome-default-applications-properties - set your default applications

SYNOPSIS

       gnome-default-applications-properties [gnome-std-options]

DESCRIPTION

       The  Preferred  Applications  preference  tool  allows  you to specify the applications that you'd like the desktop to use when the desktop
       starts an application for you. For example, you can specify Xterm as your preferred terminal application. When you open the  Desktop  Back-
       ground menu and choose New Terminal, Xterm starts.

OPTIONS

       The following options are supported:

       gnome-std-optionStandard options available for use with most GNOME applications. See gnome-std-options(5).

EXAMPLES

       Example 1: Launching the Preferred Applications preference tool

       example% gnome-default-applications-properties

EXIT STATUS

       The following exit values are returned:

       0	Application exited successfully
