Error Disks atached to a Symbios 53C875, canīt see them.

Hi,

I have SUN E450 box with Solaris 8 and a few internal disks, but i can
only see the disks attached to one of the SCSI controlers. I think i
canīt see the disks atached to two Symbios 53C875 SCSI controlers that
apears in prtdiag output. Could be drivers? How can obtain those
drivers to be able to see all disks, i need them all. Smilie

Regards.

Hi SW,
It's been a while since I've had my hands on a 450 but from memory these machines can have two scsi backplanes installed. Usually the bottom half is hooked up to the internal controller and the top half connected to any additional controllers.
How many scsi backplanes are installed and what are the positions of the disks you can't see?

Just to clarify...E450 backplanes each support 4 or 8 disks, and up to three can be installed in a system if 4 disk backplanes are used.

The dirvers for that particualr chip is the GLM, and you should check that both dirvers and any applicable pathces are installed, go to sunsolve.sun.com to find the details.

Re-using disks

I would like to know if I can move the disks from a V240 chassis into a V440 chassis to use the increased resources (CPU & Memory) to boost performance. I know you can move disks between V210/240 chassis's, but I'm not sure if this would work between 240s & 440s. Any help would be much appreciated. (4 Replies)
