Can't boot from new BE

I am on Solaris 10 Update 4 and looking at applying the Update 9 patch bundle.

I've created a new boot environment using lucreate and then activated it. I haven't upgraded the new BE but wanted to check it was ok before working on it.

lucreate reported as working successfully, I then activated the new BE and again everything seemed in order:
Code:
Boot Environment Is Active Active Can Copy
Name Complete Now On Reboot Delete Status
-------------------------- -------- ------ --------- ------ ----------
current_be yes yes yes no -
Solaris10_910_be yes no no yes -

When the server did come backup lustatus returned the following:
Code:
Boot Environment Is Active Active Can Copy
Name Complete Now On Reboot Delete Status
-------------------------- -------- ------ --------- ------ ----------
current_be yes yes yes no -
Solaris10_910_be yes no no yes -

I couldn't pick up any errors when the server rebooted as the screen went blank until it got as far as the CDE. I've looked in /var/adm/messages - can't see anything obvious - is there anything in particular in messages that I should be looking for or would any errors be in another file.

Also as an aside, once I have upgraded Solaris10_910_be and am happy with it what is the best way to get current_be up to date? Do I trash it and create a new BE based on Solaris10_910_be or do I just upgrade current_be and then boot from it?

Many thanks in advance
Paul

Sorry - I meant to mention it in the original post.

init 6 - which from what I have read should've worked.

This is the full output from the luactivate command:
Code:

# luactivate Solaris10_910_be
A Live Upgrade Sync operation will be performed on startup of boot environment <Solaris10_910_be>.
WARNING: The following files have changed on both the current boot
environment <current_be> zone <global> and the boot environment to be
activated <Solaris10_910_be>:
   /var/mail/oracle
INFORMATION: The files listed above are in conflict between the current
boot environment <current_be> zone <global> and the boot environment to be
activated <Solaris10_910_be>. These files will not be automatically
synchronized from the current boot environment <current_be> when boot
environment <Solaris10_910_be> is activated.

**********************************************************************

The target boot environment has been activated. It will be used when you
reboot. NOTE: You MUST NOT USE the reboot, halt, or uadmin commands. You
MUST USE either the init or the shutdown command when you reboot. If you
do not use either init or shutdown, the system will not boot using the
target BE.

**********************************************************************

In case of a failure while booting to the target BE, the following process
needs to be followed to fallback to the currently working boot environment:

1. Enter the PROM monitor (ok prompt).

2. Change the boot device back to the original boot environment by typing:

     setenv boot-device
/pci@9,600000/SUNW,qlc@2/fp@0,0/disk@w5000cca004689c5d,0:a

3. Boot to the original boot environment by typing:

     boot

**********************************************************************

Modifying boot archive service
Activation of boot environment <Solaris10_910_be> successful.

and lustatus?

I must admit the luactivate output was from Saturday when I first tried it.

If I activate the new BE again now, how do I de-activate it - is it just a case of doing luactivate against the current BE? I'm just a bit wary as it's a live server.
