Can't boot from new BE

I am on Solaris 10 Update 4 and looking at applying the Update 9 patch bundle.

I've created a new boot environment using lucreate and then activated it. I haven't upgraded the new BE but wanted to check it was ok before working on it.

lucreate reported as working successfully, I then activated the new BE and again everything seemed in order:

When the server did come backup lustatus returned the following:

I couldn't pick up any errors when the server rebooted as the screen went blank until it got as far as the CDE. I've looked in /var/adm/messages - can't see anything obvious - is there anything in particular in messages that I should be looking for or would any errors be in another file.

Also as an aside, once I have upgraded Solaris10_910_be and am happy with it what is the best way to get current_be up to date? Do I trash it and create a new BE based on Solaris10_910_be or do I just upgrade current_be and then boot from it?
