how to share a folder from windows xp to solaris 8

how to share a folder from windows xp to solaris 8? with out using samba?it is possible or not for sharing a folder between windows and solaris 8

To mount an smb exported folder from windows, you'll need samba to access it.
To avoid using smb, you could instead create an NFS export from windows but would need to install NFS software on your windows box first (I'm not aware of any free NFS implementations for windows, only paid ones)
