Java Simple AWK question
This example took form Wikipedia article about AWK:

yes Wikipedia | cat -n | awk 'NR % 4 == 1, NR % 4 == 3' | head -7

The output is:

1 Wikipedia
2 Wikipedia
3 Wikipedia
5 Wikipedia
6 Wikipedia
7 Wikipedia
9 Wikipedia

The question is:
What line "2 Wikipedia" is doing in the output? 2%4 != 1 and 2%4 != 3 ....

pattern,pattern is from ... to.

From line where NR%4==1 to line where NR%4==3:

$ awk 'NR%4==1{print "From",$0}
NR%4==3{print "To  ",$0}' <(printf "%s\n" "line "{1..11})
