scp in for loop
Hi,

I am trying to transfer between two servers using this command, but it is asking me for password for each file.

Any ideas are appreciated

for i in `ls`; do scp $i/*unix* user@server.com:/target/folder;done

Does it ask for a password when you omit the loop and scp the files manually? I suspect your problem is not related to the loop.

Yes, it does. Because, the source files are on server1 and the target directory is on another server.

It has to, as you are running a new command in every single loop. You could try to circumnavigate this by
a) using passwordless ssh access using private/public keys
b) running the loop as client to an ssh-agent who deals with the authentication.
