Shell Programming and Scripting

I have a script that calls an ETL job and passes paramaters like job name. The jobnames is built dynamically each time the script is triggeerd. Once the Jobnames param file is built, the process loops (based on the line count of jobnames param) to all the ETL job. All this is workign good. I need to add somme more functionality into the script. Here si the requirement:

1. Assuming the param file has 10 lines (meanening it has to call the ETL script 10 times in a loop)
2. When I start the script, after looping 4 times, lets say the process fails.
3. When I restart the script again , I need to make it only start from where it left. So, it should only start from 5th job (assuming the 4 runs were successful)
4. I should be able to pass a switch which tells that its not like afull load and its more like incremental.

Can anyone throw some pointers for this? Thank you.

You could record the finished step in a file after each successful step and have the script remove that file after the last step will have finished. You can make the script detect the file and then refrain from dynamically rebuilding the job names..

If you want to tell the script manually, you could use positional parameters for that.
