winter 987
spring 483
CC autumn 3222
summer 4922

and file “b” is:
AA spring 322 summer 277 autumn 4332 winter 632 BB summer 777 winter 987 spring 483 CC autumn 3222 summer 4922

then ,how to do?

sorry ,the file "b" is wrong.
this is my mean :
file “b” :
AA spring 322 summer 277 autumn 4332 winter 632
BB summer 777 winter 987 spring 483
CC autumn 3222 summer 4922

Do you really have a file like this, with records beginning with "AA", "BB"...etc:

awk 'NR !=1 && /^[A-Z]/{printf("\n%s ",$0);next}
{printf("%s ",$0)}
END{print}' a

I tried , but the result is "a" ,and not "b".
