For NFS client, you can try HUMMINGBIRD. I don't know others editor.

It is not so easy. You can copy your Windows file to Samba share or use ftp. Install and configure an NFS server on your Windows WS is not very easy.

This depend of your log strategy ? Do you want to conserve log for a month or not ? This is rotate, so when you arrive to four (in a lot of case) the .1 is replace, then .2, etc....

They need to modify semaphores on SUN and HP servers (from Patrol documentation) so they suppose that there is the same need on Linux. But we don't find any documentation on this. This why I ask here...

I am not the project leader for Patrol. I only know they want to install the agent on servers I've installed. The business rules says what all servers need to have Patrol for monitoring and alerts.
