Yeah, you can do that. But why? You can mount the new stuff at the old location without the gyrations.

You would remove the 2 filesystems, then run divvy on each one to change the division names to something different temporarily, delete the old division names in /dev, then run divvy again to make the right names, delete the temporary names in /dev, then mkdev fs to link stuff back up again.

just going bonkers on how to link the previous /dev/u1 /u1 to /dev/flexxu1 /u1.

Ive already restored the contents of u1 o the new drive. fullpath is /flexxu1/flexxu1/u1.

You are not going to link the previous /dev/u1 to /dev/flexxu1. You are going to unlink the /dev/u1 from /u1 then link the /dev/flexxu1 to /u1.

>restored the contents of u1 o the new drive. fullpath is /flexxu1/flexxu1/u1<
Your previous data was at /u1 so to keep it at the same depth (available at the same location on the file system after the change ) it should be located at /flexxu1.

Did you contact JGT, either by phone or private message?

Just got to the ofc abt 30mins ago. Was not able to contact JGT since I just read the posts now.....

When you say unlink, does that mean umount the filesystem & remove it?

Yes, umount the filesystem /dev/u1. then mount /dev/flexxu1 to /u1.

But it would be better to use the "mkdev fs" script rather than the command line to accomplish the tasks. Both work, but script allows you to define some extra stuff that command line doesn't.
