passwod switch for SCP

Hi Guys,

Hows every1?

Query: Is there anyway to mention Password in SCP command that we use to copy data from one machine to other. So I want to use Password in SCP command.

Example...

Code:
scp -r zip_folder kashif@192.168.100.8:/home/kashif/

(it will prompt for password for user kashif)

I want to write a commnad something like that

Code:
scp -r zip_folder kashif@192.168.100.8:/home/kashif/ -password=temp_pass.

so I am looking for correct sentence for it (If it is possible.)

Thanks in advance.

Be happy.
-Kahsif.

There isn't one. You'll have a very hard time trying to shoehorn it in through a file too. That's by design, to prevent these shenanigans.

Passing cleartext passwords around is a bad idea in general. Passing them through commandline parameters is especially dumb -- any unprivileged user on the system could see it -- but any method that involves keeping a cleartext password in a file is more than bad enough.

You've said you don't want trusted keys, I think. But seriously -- that's what they're for.
