pmap - display information about process memory mappings
SYNOPSIS
pmap [ -d | -q | -h | -V | -A low,high ] pid
DESCRIPTION pmap(1) displays information about a process's memory mappings, such as its stack, data segment, mapped files, and so on.
The pmap(1) utility will show, for each mapping of a given process, the starting byte address in the process's address space, the size, the
RSS (size of the mapping in physical memory), the amount of dirty pages, the permission, the device node, the offset, and the file backing
the mapping, if any.
As the last line of output, the pmap(1) utility will tally up the total size of all mappings as well as show the total size of
writable/private mappings and of shared mappings.
OPTIONS
d, --device
Display major and minor device numbers.
A, --limit=low,high
Limit results to the given range.
q, --quiet
Hide header and memory statistics.
h, --help
Show pmap usage.
V, --version
Display version information.

pmap [options] pid [...]
DESCRIPTION
The pmap command reports the memory map of a process or processes.
OPTIONS -x, --extended
Show the extended format.
-d, --device
Show the device format.
-q, --quiet
Do not display some header or footer lines.
-A, --range low,high
Limit results to the given range to low and high address range. Notice that the low and high arguments are single string separated
with comma.
-h, --help
Display help text and exit.
-V, --version
Display version information and exit.
EXIT STATUS
0 Success.
1 Failure.
42 Did not find all processes asked for.

Is there a way to collect data from top command to a file at regular intervals. I need this on HP-UX. I need to gather resident memory usage. I know that sar will give %cpu usage. There is a pmap command which gives memory usage in solaris. Is there a similar command in HP-UX

I want to find out how much memory is used by one unix process. I guess I can use unix top command. I have seen the SIZE and RES column in the TOP command. For Oracle client connections these values are too high about 700M , My system does not have that much pysical memory. Here is few Oracle... (2 Replies)

Hello all,
I am facing a memory related issue on my linux that is CentOS 4.0. What I see as an output of top command, free command is that memory usage is almost 90% which is quite high without much load on the system. This is continuously showing 90% or so of memory usage with top or free... (2 Replies)

I have a server box with 16GB ram in it, within the server box there are 3 VMs running with a total allocation of 9GB.
if I add up all the numbers under memory info using vmstat I get 15.8GB so I can say it adds up to 16Gb...
