I can ping other computers in my office. I can telnet other users in my office but i cannot get out of the office network. If i try to go out side of my network it cannot find host.

Either your firewall does not allow this or your routing
is not set up properly.

I can telnet from any of the windows machines in the network, i can get a outside webadress from any windows box, i can telnet from the linux to a windows server or ping any of the computer in the network...

If i use the ip i have given to the linux box on a windows box i have full internet connection. But, i cannot get any interent connection with the linux box with the ip.

The routing on your linux box is not
set up properly. Check the routing tables
using "netstat -nr" and make sure your gateway
address is correct. Also, from your linux box,
run "nslookup www.ibm.com" and verify that
the "Server: ..." is looking at the DNS server
that it should be.

you could be useing a web proxy. if you get web access but no other access to the outside world.

i know here. this is how its done. web proxy and firewalls. and all internal sutff is non realworld ip.
