Top Forums Shell Programming and Scripting how to kill process from file Post 84143 by bakunin on Thursday 22nd of September 2005 03:01:27 AM

I can't conceive an occasion where wait or sleep would be preferable over cron for the purpose of (your words) "i want that this script will run automatic every 30 minutes ". Sounds more like lack of knowledge what cron does or artificial (superficial) restriction on the tools employed (aka: "do my homework assignment for me").

Anyway, if you insist on using sleep, "man sleep" tells you:

...
Syntax

sleep Seconds
...

hence, your script:

Code:
while : ; do
     ... your code ...
     sleep 1800
done

Hope this helps - and if it doesn't i don't know how anything else will do.
