Here is something that I wrote to identify whether a process has been idle for over 30 mins.
Assumptions. The process is attached to a tty.
There are some processes which might be over 30 mins, and are idle. But you need to take precaution when using this script. Some of them might be very useful even though they are/have been idle for days.
does anyone know an easy way that at the beginning of your script you check to see if that process is already running? I mean I wud like to get a listing of running processes along with their CPU / memory utilisation so that I can spot dangerous the space / memory eaters ..

I want to find the pid ( by ps ) that has already run over 30 seconds , I know ps only show the minute/hour .

kill.d - snoop process signals as they occur. Uses DTrace.
SYNOPSIS
kill.d
DESCRIPTION
kill.d is a simple DTrace program to print details of process signals as they are sent, such as the PID source and destination, signal num-
ber and result.
This program can be used to determine which process is sending signals to which other process.
Since this uses DTrace, only users with root privileges can run this command.
EXAMPLES
Default output, print process signals as they are sent.
# kill.d
FIELDS
FROM source PID
COMMAND
source command name
TO destination PID
SIG destination signal ("9" for a kill -9)
RESULT result of signal (-1 is for failure)
