Seting a library directory...
Is there any variable that contains the paths for all the user libraries?? I'm asking this cause i need to add the lib dir of an appl in this variable and i don't know how to do it...
Can anyone help me plz

This is probably a basic question. I had installed a stand-alone library called szip in my home directory, as I don't have the necessary root permission.
I tried to set an environment for both include and lib files in my .cshrc script as

Im using CentOs 5.5 , i tried to change the host name to be for example my_server_1 , according to the web i changed the /etc/sysconf/network to look like this :
NETWORKING=yes
NETWORKING_IPV6=no
#HOSTNAME=localhost.localdomain
HOSTNAME=my_server_1

Hello,
./configure script fails to configure libsf. Please check the following last few lines of configure script error.
checking for db1/db.h... no
checking for db.h... yes
checking for dbopen in -ldb1... no
configure: error: No libdb? No libsf.

NAME
ld - link editor, dynamic link editor
SYNOPSIS
/usr/ucb/ld [options]
DESCRIPTION
/usr/ucb/ld is the link editor for the BSD Compatibility Package. /usr/ucb/ld is identical to /usr/bin/ld (see ld(1)) except that BSD
libraries and routines are included before the base libraries and routines.
OPTIONS
/usr/ucb/ld accepts the same options as /usr/bin/ld, with the following exceptions:
-Ldir Add dir to the list of directories searched for libraries by /usr/bin/ld. Directories specified with this option are searched
before /usr/ucblib and /usr/lib.
-Y LU,dir Change the default directory used for finding libraries.
This option can have unexpected results, and should not be used.
