Having problems with removing a volume group..
Dear all,
I would be very grateful if you could help me with removing the volume group.. The case is that, I was trying to create a volume group with 4 disk eligible, but the system has hang [RS/6000 with 4 processors and 8 Gb of memory
].. Maybe because the disks that I was trying to include into the new volume group were of too large size (22 disks, 72Gb each).. And now i have an inactive volume group.. And I cannot make it active.. I have trying everything, but i'm having errors whatever I do.. I thought I could just export it, but it's also not giving me to export the vg.. I wouldn't mind to have one inactive empty vg, but the problem is that the hdisk3(about 360Gb) is in that vg.. And I did not manage to extract the disk from the vg.. Maybe if I'll manage to extract the disk, i'll be able to remove the vg.. But I don't know how..

On the internal disks is it possible to have other volume groups other then root vg? If so would the other vg be captured in the mksysb?
Any documentation links that you can point me to on volume groups and such woudl be welcomed.

Hello,
I have logical volume group of 50GB, in which I have 2 logical volumes, LogVol01 and LogVol02, both are of 10GB.
If I extend LogVol01 further by 10GB, then it keeps the extended copy after logical volume 2. I want to know where it keeps this information

Does anyone have any simple methods for moving a current logical volume from one volume group to another? I do not wish to move the data from one physical volume to another. Basically, I want to "relink" the logical volume to exist in a different volume group. Any ideas? (2 Replies)

The first volume lvnode01 is OK in rootvg and mounted. It is also consistent in the ODM

pvremove - remove LVM data structure from a physical volume SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The command clears the LVM data structure on a disk, so that it is no longer an LVM physical volume. The device may then be used by the file system or by other volume managers. The operation is denied if pv_path is assigned to a volume group. The command only clears the LVM data structure on a disk if the disk does not belong to a volume group. This avoids accidentally removing a valid physical volume under a volume group. If the physical volume to be removed belongs to a volume group, use the command to first remove the volume group associated with the physical volume. Arguments recognizes the following arguments: pv_path The character (raw) device path name of a physical volume. EXTERNAL INFLUENCES
