Not homework/assignment, just a task I want to complete at work to make reporting on some Slurm scheduler output a bit more manageable.
CentOS 7, awk the tool of choice.
I have tried the following, which seems to be getting somewhere, just having a mental block on how to get over the finishing line:
Producing:
(I put an additional cn048 at the end, just as a test as I got some weird output of another test batch of data using this technique. Otherwise it is the data above).
I want to grep a range of numbers in a log file. My log file looks like this:
20050807070609Z;blah blah
That is a combination of yr,month,date,hours,minutes,seconds.
I want to search in the log file events that happened between a particular time.
like between 20050807070000 to 20050822070000... (1 Reply)

Dear Friends,
I want to know how to grep for the lines that has a number between given range(start and end).
I have tried the following sed command.
sed -n -e '/20030101011442/,/20030101035519/p'
However this requires both start and end to be part of the content being grepped. However... (4 Replies)

io::async::protocol::linestream
IO::Async::Protocol::LineStream(3pm) User Contributed Perl Documentation IO::Async::Protocol::LineStream(3pm)NAME
"IO::Async::Protocol::LineStream" - stream-based protocols using lines of text
SYNOPSIS
Most likely this class will be subclassed to implement a particular network protocol.
package Net::Async::HelloWorld;
use strict;
use warnings;
use base qw( IO::Async::Protocol::LineStream );
sub on_read_line
{
my $self = shift;
my ( $line ) = @_;
if( $line =~ m/^HELLO (.*)/ ) {
my $name = $1;
$self->invoke_event( on_hello => $name );
}
}
sub send_hello
{
my $self = shift;
my ( $name ) = @_;
$self->write_line( "HELLO $name" );
}
This small example elides such details as error handling, which a real protocol implementation would be likely to contain.
DESCRIPTION EVENTS
The following events are invoked, either using subclass methods or CODE references in parameters:
on_read_line $line
Invoked when a new complete line of input is received.
PARAMETERS
The following named parameters may be passed to "new" or "configure":
on_read_line => CODE
CODE reference for the "on_read_line" event.
METHODS
$lineprotocol->write_line( $text )
Writes a line of text to the transport stream. The text will have the end-of-line marker appended to it; $text should not end with it.
