Adapters can be broken because of the power-cycling of the host system. In most cases if an adapter is defective it shows once you power-cycle a system. This is a common effect.

Only a few weeks ago we had a power failure in one of our datacenters (lightning struck and UPS failed come up). When we restarted the complete environment an hour later we had several adapters (and in one case even a sysplanar) failing completely or in parts.

In the end we replaced the sysplanar, two power supplies, 2 FC cards and 1 10G-adapter, distributed over ~20 managed systems (mostly 780s and 740s)

Even if they do soft zoning (based on WWNs) there is a chance that you changed to another part of the fabric when you moved the system. In many cases there are several switches ("clusters") and a zone defined on one doesn't necessarily mean it is defined on any other.

In any case i suggest you also check all the connecting cables. There is always the chance of a FC cable broken.

NAME

       scconf_transp_adap_hme - configure the hme transport adapter

DESCRIPTION

       Note -

	 Beginning  with  the Sun Cluster 3.2 release, Sun Cluster software includes an object-oriented command set. Although Sun Cluster software
	 still supports the original command set, Sun Cluster procedural documentation uses only the object-oriented command set. For more  infor-

       You can configure hme Ethernet adapters as cluster transport adapters. These adapters can only be used with transport type dlpi.

       The  hme Ethernet adapter connects to a transport switch or to another Ethernet adapter on a different node. In either case, the connection
       is made through a transport cable.

       When a transport switch is used and the endpoints of the transport cable are configured using scconf, scinstall, or other  tools,  you  are
       asked to specify a port name on the transport switch.  You can provide any port name, or accept the default,  as long as the name is unique
       for the switch.

       The default is to set the port name to the node ID hosting  the adapter at the other end of the cable.

       There are no user configurable properties for cluster transport adapters of this type.
