In my opinion, you can start with 5.3 then just look for the enhancements on the future versions. IBM has this very documented. They don't really change much on the commands but on features and enhancement. 7.1 is the newest but from where I work, we still don't have it. Most are still on 6.1 and 5.3s.

I know about the
0 for standard input
1 for standard output
2 for standard error
and 3 to 9 is a additional file descriptor but it's a theoritical knowledge.
