[Solved] Removing control-m characters from shell script

i just want to replace it in my header variable which has the file header content take form file and not entire file.
Its just a variable in shell script which has the header value and not a filename. how to remove from that variable which is having control-m character.
How do i do this. PLease help.

While I do know some control characters need to be escaped, can normal characters also be escaped and still work the same way? Basically I do not know all control characters that have a special meaning, for example, ?, ., % have a meaning and have to be escaped... (11 Replies)

change-po-charset - change the charset value in content-type header of a gettext po file SYNOPSIS
change-po-charset <charset> FILENAME1 [ FILENAME2 ...] DESCRIPTION
change-po-charset is a simple Perl script, which reads the specified file names, and prints them on standard output, making only the fol- lowing modification. In the first msgstr string sequence it encounters, it changes the "charset" attribute of the Content-Type header to the charset specified as the first parameter. Please note that it does not actually change any character encoding of the contents of the data. It is used by potooledit(1) to fix the content-type header after it recodes the file with iconv(1).
