the "2" instead of " " " was typo, does it work for you? strange because it doesnt display output of

or

it just exits when I enter " 3 "

I read online tutorials and got a Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide but I need a while with scripts to be on the level when I look at the code and find errors. Just now I am on the errors making level . . .

I am pasting full script, can you tell me if that works for as it should,

DESCRIPTION

       The  echo()  function enables Echo mode for the current screen. The noecho() function disables Echo mode for the current screen. Initially,
       curses software echo mode is enabled and hardware echo mode of the tty driver is disabled. The echo() and noecho() functions control  soft-
       ware echo only. Hardware echo must remain disabled for the duration of the application, else the behavior is undefined.

RETURN VALUES

       Upon successful completion, these functions return OK. Otherwise, they return ERR.
