I stand corrected. Top correctly reports allocated memory including overcommitted one.

The top original manual page (top(1) - The UNIX and Linux Forums ) is confusing as this 1 GiB is not made of pages that have been swapped out but pages that were never used in in the first place.

Debian top manual page has this part corrected:

VIRT  --  Virtual Image (kb)
          The total amount of virtual memory used by the task.  It includes all
          code, data and shared libraries plus pages  that have been swapped out
          and pages that have been mapped but not used.

Hi! I work with HP-UX and I have to monitorize the use of virtual memory for different processes. (java processes for Tibco Adapter) And if these processes exceed a limit send a message to the syslog. I donīt know how to monitorize this... NAME

	 virt-pki-validate - validate libvirt PKI files are configured correctly

SYNOPSIS

	 virt-pki-validate

DESCRIPTION

       This tool validates that the necessary PKI files are configured for a secure libvirt server or client using the TLS encryption protocol.
       It will report any missing certificate or key files on the host. It should be run as root to ensure it can read all the necessary files

EXIT STATUS

       Upon successful validation, an exit status of 0 will be set. Upon failure a non-zero status will be set.
