What is this directory "$(brew --prefix)"? (homebrew)
Hello,
I installed the package manager called homebrew a few days ago. Everything seems to be working fine but today I've just noticed this funny looking directory $(brew --prefix). I'm not sure if I made a mistake and duplicated this directory from somewhere else, or if it's suppose to be there.
Executing the the brew commands "Display the real path to your Homebrew prefix" and "Display the real path to your Homebrew Cellar
So Looking at this, is /Users/m/$(brew --prefix) a redundant duplicate I somehow made which I can now delete? Or is that dollar sign in front of a directory name meaning something else I am not understanding?
Hi Friends,
Can any of you explain me about the below line of code?
mn_code=`env|grep "..mn"|awk -F"=" '{print $2}'`
Im not able to understand, what exactly it is doing
Any help would be useful for me.

smode2
SMODE2(1) FSF SMODE2(1)NAME
mode2, smode2, xmode2 - shows the pulse/space length of infrared signals
SYNOPSIS
smode2 [options]
DESCRIPTION
The main purpose of these programs is to check operation of your home-brew LIRC receiver hardware and to see the IR waveform of the remote
controller without an expensive oscilloscope. Very useful for debugging. Of course this program won't work with hardware that decodes the
signals itself like e.g. TV cards or the Irman.
smode2 uses the svgalib to show the IR waveform in a graphical representation. The time division is variable from 1 ms/unit to extremely
high values (integer type) but there is no point increasing this value above 20 ms/unit, because one pulse is about 1 ms. This kind of pre-
sentation is much more exciting than the simple pulse&space output showed by mode2.
-h --help

-v --version

-d --device=device
