It sounds like your printer expects to get carriage returns and isn't. Newlines make it go to the next line, carriage returns make it go to the beginning of the line. It's simple enough to add them:

Hello Everyone :) ,
I have this printer installed on the network which is an HP 1160.
When sending a print job to the printer from SCO Unix 7.1 it prints one line of text and the rest of it comes up with blank pages.
I have tried deleting the printer and recreating it; but I am getting... (6 Replies)
I'd like to do a data transfer without encryption but with a guarantee that my data comes from a legit source. I'm thinking something that uses a public key scheme to sign the data.
Does anyone know of something like that?
Thanks!

I would like as the client sent message to server: "get information such and such" and server would answer.

Hi all,
I know my question is regarding Windows and not Linux, but I simply need people who know Netcat pretty well and I'm guessing here is a good place for that. So on with my question.
I'm doing some research, and I was playing around with netcat on a WinXP VM but I can't seem to get... (0 Replies)

I have to solve an urgent problem!
I have a Solaris 10 server, where I created a line of printing with the command
# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p IL_Printer -s pv24002 -v /dev/null -m netstandard_foomatic -A write -n /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic/Canon/cnl66e1.ppd.gz -o... (0 Replies)
Currently I run a number of network tests using netcat that checks for an open port on a remote IP-address, using this syntax:
netcat -v -w 5 -z 107.249.95.5 4488
For some reason, the netcat command above is hanging (although others work fine), but a telnet is showing a valid connection like... (4 Replies)

truncate
TRUNCATE(1) User Commands TRUNCATE(1)NAME
truncate - shrink or extend the size of a file to the specified size
SYNOPSIS
truncate OPTION... FILE...
DESCRIPTION
Shrink or extend the size of each FILE to the specified size
A FILE argument that does not exist is created.
If a FILE is larger than the specified size, the extra data is lost. If a FILE is shorter, it is extended and the extended part (hole)
reads as zero bytes.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-c, --no-create
do not create any files
-o, --io-blocks
treat SIZE as number of IO blocks instead of bytes
-r, --reference=RFILE
base size on RFILE
-s, --size=SIZE
set or adjust the file size by SIZE bytes
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
The SIZE argument is an integer and optional unit (example: 10K is 10*1024). Units are K,M,G,T,P,E,Z,Y (powers of 1024) or KB,MB,... (pow-
ers of 1000).
SIZE may also be prefixed by one of the following modifying characters: '+' extend by, '-' reduce by, '<' at most, '>' at least, '/' round
down to multiple of, '%' round up to multiple of.
