I have a enterprise 4500 sun box. I installed 2 new 72 gb drives to replace the 2 x 9 gb drives that were in it. I have the solaris 9 install disk in it and when i do a boot cdrom it starts then says:
panic - boot: ufsboot: cannot determine filesystem type of root device.

Hi all! I'm trying to install Solaris 10.1 6/06 and got a problem under the install,after the first Grub screen the screen went black and all letters are seen as dots, i have installed Solaris 10 earlier and that goes without any problem.

We have a Sun Enterprise 4500. I checked the product manual from SUN's site and it says it has a DVD-ROM.
I downloaded Solaris 10 DVD image and burned it to a DVD and put it into the box but I don't see anyting in the /cdrom folder.

I am running an x86 system with a clean 300GB hard drive. i installed solaris10 on it the first time as a slave drive(the other drive had xp on it and it was the active part). it gave me bad file system error among other things...bla bla bla... so i took out the drive with xp on it and switched... suninstall - install the Solaris operating system
SYNOPSIS
suninstall
DESCRIPTION
install-solaris(1M) is now the preferred command for starting and restarting the Solaris Installation program. It should be used instead of
suninstall. suninstall is symbolically linked to install-solaris.
suninstall is a forms-based and graphical subsystem for installing the operating system.
suninstall exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should only be invoked from there. Refer to the Solaris 10 Instal-
lation Guide: Basic Installations for more details.
suninstall allows installation of the operating system onto any standalone system. suninstall loads the software available on the installa-
