Cannot uninstall powerpath - bosboot issues
Hi Guys,

I have a problem while trying to upgrade to more current EMC powerpath software on AIX 5.3 - respectively uninstalling the existing one.

I tried to deinstall the powerpath software with removed disks - was working perfectly fine on 12 servers - but number 13 is failing with errors:

And following filesets seem still to be there:

A forced overwrite with the new packages doesn’t work and a simple bosboot is failing too ... with following error:

0301-154 bosboot: missing proto file: /etc/emcp_registration

The file is indeed not there - but it isn't on any of the other boxes either - not with and not without installed Powerpath stack.

Does anyone how I can get rid of the old powerpath software or get the new one onto the box.

I did raise this issue with our storage engineering, IBM and EMC but did not get any help - they tell me 'ODM corruption' and 'ask IBM / EMC / engineering' - depending on who I asked - and that's it. Is anyone able to assist?

hi all i just found one of my p650 server showing a warning message when i tried to run bosboot command after upgrading TL to AIX 530803. i also tried to run chpv -c hdisk0 and chpv -c hdisk1 to clear out the old boot info in hdisk0 and hdisk1 and rerun bosboot -a. it still showed... (0 Replies)

NAME

       rapid - content download tool for spring

SYNOPSIS

       rapid [options] <action> [<argument>]

       rapid-spring [options] <action> [<argument>]

DESCRIPTION

       Rapid manages downloads of content for the spring RTS engine.

OPTIONS

       action in the command line is one of:

	      upgrade: Install the latest package for all pinned tags.

	      clean-upgrade: Equivalent to 'upgrade' followed by 'uninstall-unpinned'.

	      pin: Pins a tag and installs the latest package for that tag.

	      unpin: Unpins a tag. Does not uninstall any packages.

	      install: Install a package. Does not pin any tags.

	      uninstall: Uninstall a package. Unpin its tag if any.

	      list-tags: List all tags that contain <argument>.

	      list-pinned-tags: Idem, but only pinned tags.

	      list-packages: List all packages whose name contains <argument>.

	      list-installed-packages: Idem, but only installed packages.

	      uninstall-unpinned: Keep only the pinned tags and all dependencies.

	      collect-pool: Remove pool files not needed by any installed package.

	      make-sdd: Extract pool files into a .sdd archive.

EXAMPLES

       rapid pin xta:latest   # installs latest XTA

       rapid pin s44:latest   # installs latest Spring: 1944

       rapid upgrade	      # upgrade all pinned tags
