hi,
performance should not be slower when turning quota off and on
perhaps faster for the short period, because netapp doesn't have to check the quota
if you change a quota for an existing qtree, and turn quota off and on, quota is changed, like using "quota resize"
if you don't change any existing quota, then nothing is changed, why should they change when their quota value in the file hasn't changed

I have this problem when i integrate a new san switch in DFM 3.01 R1 :
dfm fcswitch add switchname1
Error: Host switchname2 (11197) already exists.
switchname2 is a similar san switch but in another fabric, switchname2 is already integrated in DFM database.

I'm new in using NFSv4 and do have a little trouble. I had a partition working with NFSv3, at the beginning i couldn't see on the client the German umlauts letters {ö,ä,ü} a manipulation of the LANG environment variable helped and the filenames with this letters were shown normally... (2 Replies)

NAME
rquotad, rpc.rquotad - remote quota server
SYNOPSIS
rpc.rquotad
DESCRIPTION
rquotad is an rpc(3N) server which returns quotas for a user of a local filesystem which is mounted by a remote machine over the NFS. It
also allows setting of quotas on NFS mounted filesystem. The results are used by quota(1) to display user quotas for remote filesystems and
by edquota(8) to set quotas on remote filesystems. The rquotad daemon is normally started at boot time from the system startup scripts.

aquota.user or aquota.group
quota file at the filesystem root (version 2 quota, non-XFS filesystems)
quota.user or quota.group
