I find all *.eml with:
find / -name *.eml -print > virus
Virus has the path and name of the file,so, How can i delete all *.eml?

In emacs elisp, there is a handy function called file-name-nondirectory which accepts a path and file name and returns just a file name and extension. There is also a function called file-name-directory which just returns the dire ctory name without the file.

What's the best way to find all files under a directory - including ones with space - in order to apply a command to each of them. For instance I want get a list of files under a directory and generate a checksum for each file.

I want to write a shell script that will rename all the file names to today's date attached to it..
so for example i have a file names like
file1.sales.20081201.txt.c
zbrs.salestxtn.20091101.txt.inn

NAME
basename - display portions of pathnames
SYNOPSIS
/usr/ucb/basename string [suffix]
DESCRIPTION
The basename utility deletes any prefix ending in `/' and the suffix, if present in string. It directs the result to the standard output,
and is normally used inside substitution marks (` `) within shell procedures. The suffix is a string with no special significance attached
to any of the characters it contains.
EXAMPLES
Example 1 Using the basename command.
This shell procedure invoked with the argument /usr/src/bin/cat.c compiles the named file and moves the output to cat in the current direc-
tory:
example% cc $1
example% mv a.out `basename $1 .c`
