" ls -lrt " not working ! --- Need a insight from a expert .
Hi ! All
This might be a silly question.. to experts in unix. but defintely its a interesting question and I want to know the root cause.
Here is the problem....
I have a Linux OS box. It has diff files systems.
When I go to a DIR like this
/RootDIR/NFS/myDIR and give ls -lart .. it is not displaying anything.
But when I do this...
cd /RootDIR/NFS
ls -lrt
cd /RootDIR/NFS/myDIR
ls -lrt -- is working.
Then I found out I had huge files under "myDIR" after I remove them.. rather moved them to another DIR ( /RootDIR/NFS/myDIR2). I was able to do a ls -lrt and it was working normal.
> First I thought it was a NFS mounting issue.
but it wasn't.
> second I thought OS is malfuntioning.
> But now, I'm convinced... its just a problem with myDIR "quota"
Having said .. that.
when i give " ulimit" its saying " ulimited".
pls help me to understand... or direct me to some doc where I learn about this.
Thanks a million. !
